Things You Will Need Screwdriver. Stepladder. Needle nose pliers.
Using a wire cutter, cut the length of the light fixture’s electric wires to the length of the house wires. If necessary, use wire strippers to remove the insulation from the light fixture’s electric wires. Wrap the copper or silver ground wires from the light fixture around the ground screw.
If there is a remaining wire that is green, green and yellow, or bare copper, you should screw it into place on the mounting hardware for your light fixture. There will likely be a small screw for this purpose on the fixture, which you can unscrew slightly, slot the wire into the gap between screw and fixture, and then tighten to fasten your ground.
At the receptacle, the always hot wire is spliced to the black wire on the light fixture cable, and to a pigtail that connects back to the hot terminal on the wall outlet. At the light fixture box, the black wire is spliced with the black wire running to the switch. At the switch, the black wire is connected to the new switch.
Advertisement Step 1: Shut off power. Step 2: Connect wires. Step 3: Attach fixture to box.

How to wire light fixture into this wire setup? Replacing a fan with hanging light fixture in dining room (moved into a condo and the fan was taken apparently with the previous owners). When the two black wires are uncapped, an outlet in the kitchen goes out.
Part 2 Installing the Fixture 1. Cut openings for the wiring. Cut openings into the ceiling, or wall surfaces for the boxes,... 2. Install the wiring. Install the Romex or other cable between the power source and boxes in... 3. Make sure your wiring is up to code. National Electrical Code ...
